July 31 – August 2
We have both good and bad news regarding this year’s Warriors Rock event. We waited as long as possible to make this decision but after deliberation with the guides, a physician, and closely watching the situation with COVID-19, we have decided not to have our traditional event at the City of Rocks this year. The health and safety of Veterans, their families, volunteers, and guides are of the utmost importance to us, so though this decision was not made lightly, we feel it is necessary given the circumstances.
In place of the original event, over the same weekend we will take six Veterans to the Sawtooth Wilderness. Sawtooth Mountain Guides will provide the camping equipment, food and guides to climb the Slabs which is a six-pitch climb. There will be a choice to either top rope the first pitch or to climb the full pitches which are rated 5.6-5.9. This climb will require the participants to have prior climbing experience, be able to hike two hours in altitude with a backpack, and preferably have their own climbing gear, though that is not a determining factor. We encourage all Veterans who meet these criteria to apply here, or if you applied for the original event, feel free to text or call Diana directly (208-731-7646) to express your interest. Due to capacity limitations, if we receive more than 6 applicants, we will draw names from a hat to fill the spots available. For information about the agenda for this experience, click here.
We plan to return to the City of Rocks next year to continue our annual event and we may even add on this new opportunity in the Sawtooth’s as a recurring event too! Thank you for understanding. We hope to see you in 2021.
If you have any other questions, call Diana at 208-731-7646.
*This is a drug and alcohol free event.
